History
Save the Beaches was formed in the summer of 1999 and that year sponsored a peaceful protest concerning beach access in Tiny Township which resulted in approximately 4000 letters of concern being forwarded to the Attorney General of Ontario asking for intervention and assistance in preserving the traditional and historical use of Tiny Township Beaches.
Soon afterwards the province appointed Mediators to form a committee and to seek a mediated resolution to conflict over access to the beaches of Nottawasaga Bay. Save the Beaches was incorporated in 2001, represents a membership of approximately 3,800 people and holds an Annual General Meeting in August.
Our mission statement, which was endorsed by our membership, includes the following: “to preserve the historical use by the public of the beaches of Tiny Township” and “to support and participate in the peaceful resolution of such outstanding issues aforementioned.”
